Hi, I'm Zach Nichols, a user experience designer based in Baltimore, MD. I design compelling experiences across platforms that solve complex problems. I use a strategic and creative eye to make the web work better.
I believe that keeping the user central to the design process and designing for cross-platform consistency, creates the best mobile and web products that generate results for any client.
I evaluate current products, research the competition, and fully understand my client’s goals. With that information, I sketch ideas, create wireframes and develop prototypes to help clients visualize how their users will interact on each device and platform.
After presenting and approving each client’s user-focused concept, interface design begins. My UI designs are tailored to each client’s audience and the project’s goals. I love good typography, bold colors, and airy well managed white space.
Test & Manage
I oversee the development process to ensure that the project renders and functions correctly. I evaluate multiple browsers, operating systems and devices to check for consistency. User-testing is conducted to resolve any outlying issues before launch.
I currently am the Principal for 906 Creative. 906 creates visual experiences for brands that are not afraid to think outside the box.
Before 906 I worked at R2integrated as the Mobile User Experience Lead. I worked for R2i for 10 years and over the years I worked with many enterprise clients. I executed website design as well as mobile projects for IOS, Android, and Windows 8 platforms. Additionally, I contribute to web and responsive design projects that require a usability mindset. For example, I implemented the prototyping tool, Axure, and trained our design team to use it for all web and mobile projects.
Over the last 10 years I have been fortunate enough to work with many clients working at R2integrated and freelance opportunities. Below are just a few:
Growing up in a military family gave me the opportunity to live and travel across the US and Europe. I experienced a variety of cultures at a young age and learned to adapt to whatever situation I found myself in. My diverse upbringing cultivated my creativity, forced me to think outside the box, and understand alternative perspectives.
